Tharwa, Khalda,and Burj Al Arab companies have drilled four new exploratory wells in the Western Desert, that resulted in an added production of approximately 4,500 barrels of crude oil per day and 2.6 million cubic feet of gas per day.
Tharwa Petroleum Company has made a new discovery in East Abu Sennan concession area. (EAS Z-3 well), with an initial production rate of 1,500 barrels of oil per day. Testing is ongoing, and the size of the added reserves will be assessed upon completion of the tests.
Khalda Petroleum Company has made two new discoveries with a total production exceeding 1,500 barrels of crude oil per day and approximately 1.7 million cubic feet of gas per day. These discoveries were made from the SULTAN S-1X RC well and the ALEX NW-1X well in the Matrouh Development Area.
Burj Al Arab Petroleum Company also achieved a new discovery with the AS Z-2X well in the Abu Sennan Development Area. Test results showed production rates of 1,305 barrels per day, in addition to 0.9 million cubic feet of associated gas per day. Preparations are underway to connect the well to production.
