“Khendjer-1” New Exploratory Well

Tharwa Petroleum Company, in partnership with Chevron, and Wood side, begins exploration in the West Mediterranean-Egypt.

Tharwa Petroleum Company, in strategic partnership with Chevron, and Wood side, have commenced drilling the “Khendjer-1” Exploratory Well in the North El-Dabaa Area of the Mediterranean.

The Drilling operations, initiated earlier this month, are part of Egypt’s broader plan to accelerate exploration and drilling in the promising Western Mediterranean Region, which has emerged as a key focal area for future oil and gas investment.

The anticipated discoveries in the western Mediterranean are expected to contribute positively to Egypt Economy, driving new developments and positioning the country as a critical player in the regional energy market.

Drilling operations are being conducted by the “Stena Forth” drill ship, equipped with advanced technology suited for the challenging Mediterranean offshore environment.

These exploration activities align with the petroleum sector  strategic objectives to increase oil and gas production, achieve self-sufficiency, and reinforce Egypt’s position as a regional energy hub. This endeavor is also part of a comprehensive approach to enhancing Egypt’s energy security and optimizing its role in the global energy landscape.
